The girls’ team record under Coach Stamnes’ leadership is an impressive 480-76-41, and includes 21 league titles and 5 state titles (plus 2 state titles coaching boys’ soccer). Coach Bob Bourgette expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Stamnes for his tireless dedication to Kennedy Catholic—the student athletes, his fellow coaches and the entire school community. In 2014, Stamnes was inducted into the Kennedy Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame. He will be recognized for his 32 years of dedication to soccer this spring. NEW COACH NAMED Ms. Michelle Beattie has been named Head Coach—Girls’ Soccer at Kennedy Catholic High School. Coach Beattie began her career playing soccer at age 5 and competed for Emerald City FC, Bishop Blanchet High School and Central Washington University. While a collegiate student-athlete at Central Washington she was named captain, garnered All-Conference (GNAC) honors, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health. Following graduation, Michelle pursued her love of coaching soccer at Emerald City FC, Seattle United, Eckstein Middle School, Roosevelt High School, Ballard High School, Bellevue College, and Peter Fewing Soccer Camps. In June of 2012, Michelle earned a Master’s of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington. Throughout her graduate program she interned at Seattle University as a Student-Athlete Academic Advisor and earned a position as the Director of Operations for the Seattle University Men’s Soccer team, which she held for two years before leaving to follow her other passion of teaching. Michelle is a Health and Fitness teacher at Kennedy Catholic. Coach Beattie has her USSF “D” Coaching-License and 2014-15 will mark Coach Beattie’s first season with the Kennedy Catholic Girls’ Soccer Program. With a true love for the game and its’ life-lessons, she is excited to share her passion with others. “We have hired an amazing coach,” said Mike Prato, President of Kennedy Catholic. “She has soccer and coaching experience at all levels. She understands high school athletics and she has a great ability to communicate.
