Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 7.20.39 AM The Cities of Burien, Normandy Park and Seatac are seeking applications from high school seniors for the Association of Washington Cities’ Center for Quality Communities Scholarship program. Six $1,250 scholarships will be awarded to high school students who plan to pursue a post-secondary degree in fall 2015 and are completing high school this spring/summer. All Washington cities are eligible to nominate a student. In 2014, 39 cities participated, so chances for selection are good! More information and application forms can be found at http://cfqc.org/ . Students must submit the application, a personal essay and one recommendation letter. Applications must be sent to the following City Councilmembers by these deadlines –

  • Burien residents: Councilmember Nancy Tosta – by Feb. 26th: [email protected]
  • Normandy Park residents: Councilmember Stacia Jenkins – by March 4th: [email protected]
  • Seatac residents: Councilmember Kathryn Campbell – by Feb 20th: [email protected]
Each City will nominate one student who is or has been involved with a city government, community and/or school leadership activity and exemplifies local student leadership. Selections will be made by the City Council of each City during their late February or early March regular Council meetings. The AWC Center for Quality Communities will announce the winners later this spring.
