From our sister site The White Center Blog:

Ground was officially broken for a new King County Library branch at 1409 SW 107th Street in White Center on Thursday afternoon, March 19.
A tented V.I.P. section was cordoned off from heavy equipment, large tree limbs and mud, and it was chock full of local dignitaries, KCLS employees, board members and several cute kids thrown in just for fun.
The celebration was for a brand new, 10,000 square foot facility with “more materials, computers, wireless access, and space for children and teens,” according to KCLS.
Scott Schaefer was on-site and he took some great photos and video – see the full story here.]]>

  1. Please tell me this article is wrong. Please tell me the Boulevard Library is not closing! Love my library!

  2. To my knowledge, the Boulevard Park Library is not closing any time soon. If you love your library, be ready to advocate for it. The White Center Library at the current site is not going to close during the construction of the new White Center Library. Again, keep your eye on our libraries.
King County Library System is a supposedly non-political independent entity, However, any entity that depends upon taxation is very much a part of the politic.

  3. Thank you for covering this exciting ground breaking for the new White Center Library. This is going to be a beautiful new library for a community who truly appreciates and values what KCLS brings to the area! Just to clarify one issue…this library is a replacement of the existing White Center Library. It has nothing to do with the Boulevard Park Library. That library will remain, and is actually slated for its own renovations coming up soon!
