WSF 2015 Poster final web Save the date because this Father’s Day weekend – June 20 & 21 – marks a sacred (and FREE) annual tradition in Burien – the Wild Strawberry Festival and Father’s Day Car Show and Chili Cook-Off! Downtown Burien will once again be transformed as folks gather to celebrate arts, entertainment, music, dancing, great food, and of course, really cool cars and much more. New this year is the addition of the Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, June 20. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to explore, and learn about a variety of trucks. Notably absent this year is the spring carnival, which has been a mainstay of the Strawberry Festival in recent years. “With the growth and development of our downtown core, we’ve had to reassess the carnival as a direct component of the Strawberry Festival,” Andrea Reay, Executive Director at Discover Burien, said. “Safety is always our paramount concern, and this year we just didn’t have the space to execute an effective carnival as part of the Festival. The carnival will be back in Burien with all your favorite rides, games and treats this fall in Puget Sound Park September 24 through the 27.” Sunday June 21 is of course Father’s Day, so don’t forget to thank your Dad, and invite him to the Discover Burien Father’s Day Car Show! Now in its 13th year, this annual event features lean mean cruzin’ machines and has become a perfect date with Dad. Beautifully restored classic cars and their present-day cousins line SW 152nd Street in downtown Burien from 4th Ave SW to Ambaum Blvd. Do you have a car you would like to enter? This year also marks the return of the great chili cook-off. Prizes will be awarded for the best chili recipe in B-Town.
