The Burien Arts Association is sad to report the death of long-time Burien Arts board member Linda Dougherty on July 7.
“Linda was an active member of Burien Arts since its early days, served more than one term as President, and was often the voice of reason and experience,” Burien Arts President Lance Haslund said.
Maria Van Horn, another long-serving Burien Arts board member, noted, “Linda touched many lives with her laughter, compassion and leadership.”
Linda worked for more than 30 years in King County government, becoming director of the Road Services Division in 2001. She was instrumental in securing a replacement for the old South Park Bridge. Linda retired in 2010.
Brenda Bauer, current Road Services manager, noted Linda was known for taking leftovers from county events and walking them to local homeless shelters.
“I have heard many stories of Linda’s generosity and sense of humor, and know that she was a mentor and friend to many,” Bauer added.
Donations honoring Linda may be made to Burien Arts Association at www.burienarts.org or P.O. Box 66574, Burien 98166. Donations may also be made to a food bank or cat shelter of your choice.]]>
