Discover Burien – along with their Seasoned Chefs – will be welcoming guest Chef Heidi Pomeroy to the Burien Farmers Market this Thursday (July 30), along with an outdoor yoga class from Bikram Yoga.

Pomeroy is the owner and head chef at Maven Meals and Maven Mercantile, located at 641 SW 152nd Street. The Seasoned Chefs have been a welcome addition to the market this year. Every week at Noon they offer cooking demonstrations and prepare hundreds of samples featuring local seasonal produce available at the market. The recipes of the food they prepare are also available so guests to the market can prepare their own chef inspired creations at home. Cooking with fresh, local seasonal produce is not only healthy, it’s also quick and simple!

Also, Bikram Yoga Burien will be rolling out their mats at Noon on the grass next to the market near Burien Town Square, conducting a free yoga class. All are invited to this free event, even non-yoga types!

Come out to the market this Thursday – starting at Noon – to sample this recipe in person, take a yoga class…or just swing by the Discover Burien office any time to pick up the recipe to try yourself at home. Happy eating!

The Farmers Market runs from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Burien Town Square Park, located at SW 152nd Street and 5th Place SW.

Thanks for the reminder about the Burien Farmer’s Market and for the details about the Discover Burien Association. This is what makes living here so great!

I have a suggestion. Why not have the new Route 631 Burien Community Bus include a stop (in both directions) at the Farmers Market on Thursdays? It would be wonderful if the community bus could be expanded to serve all of Burien. Perhaps with time it will! In the mean time more needs to be done to make people aware of Route 631. If developed properly it could be a great way for those who no longer drive to shop and use the hospital and clinics. Here is a link to the Route 631 map.
