Did you miss the Burien Film Festival on April 1st?

Have you ever seen the locally-produced, award-winning film “The Maury Island Incident”?

Don’t worry! The City of Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is partnering with the Burien Film Festival and “The Maury Island Incident” producers to share these treasures with the community at the fabulous Lake Burien School Park on Thursday, Aug. 20!

The inaugural Burien Film Festival (BFF) kicked off at the 3rd annual Burien UFO Festival on April 1, 2015, showcasing 10 original short films shot in the city and utilizing local businesses.

The five-minute films were required to highlight Burien business, utilize a chase scene and include man- or woman-in-black and/or aliens.

The films were judged by a solid group of local and regional experts:

  • Scott Schaefer (Director/Producer/Writer)
  • Steve Edmiston (Writer/Producer/Director)
  • Lisa B. Hammond (Production Designer)
  • Matt Markovich (KOMO-TV)
  • Burien City Manager Kamuron Gurol

The new film festival – founded and organized by John White and Shelli Park – is intended to help promote Burien, its businesses and locales, as well as giving another outlet to the local creative community:

WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015; Movies will begin at Dusk, around 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Lake Burien School Park, located at 1620 SW 149th Street.
