Resident Elston Hill took this photo of the Washington State Ferry “Tacoma” as it cruised past Burien on Saturday, Oct. 24 (click image to see larger version): aFerry_0254 Elston adds:

The Ferry Tacoma, which runs between Bainbridge and Seattle, sailed by Burien late Saturday afternoon. It is normal for ferries to sail by Burien after undergoing repairs or maintenance. The ferry is one of the three largest Washington State Ferries and was built in 1997. It went back to dry dock June 8 for four months of planned preservation that included an $8 million paint job. Another $3.5 million of work included swapping out four-bladed propellers for five-bladed propellers which cause less vibration and use less fuel. According to the Kitsap Sun, this ferry has been out of service 12 of the last 15 months. It was supposed to return to service on October 13.
