Very Cool! Gives me chills just to think of how cold that wet spray must be! I used to live in La Conner WA, where we could watch the smaller tugs manage long, long log booms thru the Swinomish slough. Terrific skill, quietly done with a master’s touch. Love to see the working tugs!!
I have always wished we could have a ‘foot ferry’ running daily from Olympia to Tacoma and Seattle and farther north, too. One that would grow and allow it to stop as needed at points along the way…like even Burien! This may seem ‘pie-in-the-sky’ but, it could be a real boon to the tourist industry, especially when combined with bicycle rental. And think how useful it could be if something major ever happened to I-5. Even now it could lighten the north/south traffic that clogs the Fife/Tacoma/JBLM areas. So many people commute daily between Oly and Tacoma and Seattle. I really think some would love to do it by water.
