    That’s unfortunate!

  2. Jimmy Jr. says:

    Still have hope. Recount!

  3. Tom Taaffe says:

Hi Lisa. I can’t say I agree with you but at least you have a name that sounds like a name. These blog string contributors names all too often sound like the aliases of the FBIs 10 most wanted or perhaps 19th century Quakers. Can you imagine a guy who’s first name is “Question”? Next we’ll hear from Patience, Prudence and of course Chastity. Or not – this is Burien after all. . Tom

Hi Tom, You must be fairly new to reading this blog. Anonymity is important here at times. There are many posters who if you disagree with them will spend their time researching you and then posting private information on here. I have seen stories of one of them actually calling someone’s employer to complain! So please don’t be too harsh about anonymous posters. This is just a blog, after all. Dick

      • Tom Taaffe says:

Hi Dick: You must be the brother to Knife and Needle. Nice guys and sharp too.

I understand what you are saying but I will take my chances and stand behind my comments as strange as they may be. Tom

        • Bill says:

Tom Taaffe is an old time attorney in Burien. And Tom is not really taking any chances because he knows he will sue the butt off of any one who messes with him. He was admitted to the Bar in 1969. But for a guy who claims to have a passion for Burien politics, he has remained strangely hidden and silent about the important issues this city has faced.

          • ShellyC says:

As have you, Bill(no last name).

          • Tom Taaffe says:

Hi Bill: Tom has been retired for a number of years but now spends his time as an ombudsman assisting seniors and others in nursing homes and extended care facilities.
He does Arise from his slumber from time to time when he encounters anonymous nastiness and character assassinations. Tom

      • Lee Moyer says:

        I don’t believe your stories.

      • Nice Guy Eddie says:

Mostly it’s the far right supporters of Darla Green who do most the doxxing.

  4. Julie says:

One would think that those union financed campaigns could pay someone $15/hour to pick up their signs – oh wait, that wage doesn’t apply to unions. Anyway, hire someone to pick up your signs please. There’s lots of people begging at street corners in Burien that say they are out of work….. where’s your compassion union guys?

  5. Rick McMichael says:

I have not seen anything in the paper so please advise who won any of the other Burien City Council races.

    • Sorry Rick – we posted the overall results Tuesday night, but since the winners were obvious we’ve been focusing on the Bell vs Green race.

Here are the latest results for the other Burien races, as of 6:57 p.m. on Fri. 11/6:

City of Burien Council Position No. 2:
      Bob Edgar NP 4162 56.87%
      Holli Giffin NP 3137 42.87%
      Write-in NP 19 0.26%

City of Burien Council Position No. 4:
      Lucy Krakowiak NP 4430 60.68%
      Jon Scherer NP 2853 39.08%
      Write-in NP 18 0.25%

  6. mark pitzner says:

I am shocked that Bell has apparently got it, Darla was by far a better candidate, more committed to this area more invested in the betterment of Burien. We have lost a chance to have someone that would served our community well. She would have been an outspoken positive advocate for us, but alas the voters have spoken.

    • Peter says:

I agree with you, Mark. However, outside money, footwork – going door to door, etc. proved insurmountable to Darla. At this point I’m sure many Darla Green supporters are asking “what if” – what if we had gone door to door. What if 20 supporters had gone and convinced 10 people each to vote for Darla – that would have been the difference. I say this not to accuse Darla and her supporters of not working hard enough, but rather as a challenge for the next election. For certainly the progressives will be back in future elections trying to establish a majority on the city councill. Hopefully we will have a strong candidate to oppose Lauren Berkowitz when she comes up in 2017, and we can work to defeat her, and elect someone who is right for Burien.

      • Charles Schaefer says:

We did go door to door. Believe me, I’m going back and thinking about anything we could have done differently.

        • Ken says:

Probably nothing. Even if Brian Bennett’s partisan robocall for Mr. Bell was illegal in a nonpartisan election, I learned years ago that there is no penalty for violating election laws. Sad but true. 🙁

  7. Noman says:

i received a letter in the mail saying my vote wasnt counted for whatever reason…. as i try to decided if i am going to spend the effort required to again get my vote in when “my” candidate has already lost according to polls i read everywhere, i wonder….

how many other people just up and threw this letter in the garbage and didnt even bother….

  8. PJ says:

The election is not certified until 11/24. Please Norman and anyone else that was notified by King County Elections that there was something wrong with your ballot (it usually is the signature) please take the time and send it in so your vote can be counted.
