ELECTION RETURNS 7: Council race tightens up; Austin Bell up by 147 votes

The seventh round of results were released by King County Elections at 4:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, with the latest totals showing that Austin Bell continues to lead Darla Green, but down by 8 votes from Friday – to 147 votes.

The latest totals are for 8,339 ballots counted, or 33.5%.

Vote totals will be released daily – over nine more weekdays – before being certified Nov. 24.

City of Burien Council Position No. 6:

  • Austin Bell: 3781 • 50.85%
  • Darla Green: 3634 • 48.88%
  • Write-in: 20 • 0.27%

As of 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Bell was up by 72 votes:

  • Austin Bell: 2750 • 50.50%
  • Darla Green: 2678 • 49.17%
  • Write-in: 18 • 0.33%

As we first reported, Bell led by just 2 votes in Tuesday night’s (Nov. 3) initial returns:

  • Darla Green: 2161 • 49.79%
  • Write-in: 16 • 0.37%

    A bit surprising that only 33.5% of the votes have been counted. Isn’t the system automated?

    No matter which candidate wins, the closeness of this election is testimonial to the importance of voting. The contributors to the blog string have been passionate to put it mildly. I hope their passion is contagious because there will be a whiz dinger of a municipal election in two years. Tom
