Looks like Austin Bell has all but wrapped up the horse race for Burien City Council Position No. 6 – as he is now ahead by 173 votes over Darla Green in the latest results, issued on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 3:32 p.m.

When the first results were released on election night (Tuesday, Nov. 3), Bell was ahead by just 2 votes.

Vote totals will be certified on Nov. 24.

With 8,981 ballots counted out of 24,896 registered voters (36.07%), here’s the latest:

City of Burien Council Position No. 6:

  • Austin Bell: 4070 • 50.91%
  • Darla Green: 3897 • 48.75%
  • Write-in: 27 • 0.34%

EDITOR’S NOTE: We apologize for previously providing the wrong information for a vote recount and causing any confusion due to our misunderstanding; the info we received – that a 150 vote difference triggers a recount – was wrong.

Here’s the current difference, as calculated using King County Elections recount calculator:

Also, if you haven’t read it yet, city council candidate Holli Giffin sent in a Letter to the Editor – see it here.
