The annual Cove to Clover fundraiser race is coming Sunday, March 13, and Sponsors are needed!

The Cove to Clover is 501(c)(3) non-profit and disburses all proceeds to local charities.

New this year is the “GRIT Found Challenge” division of the 5K, which starts at 11 a.m. at the Cove for an hour “warm-up.”  “Gritters” will then run the 5K with a backpack full of canned food which will be donated to the food bank at the finish line.

The GRIT Found Challenge is the same course as the 5K but will have obstacles and crossfit style challenges along the way.

This event has evolved and is a truely grass-roots production. The race was originally organized by a group of friends with the mission of producing a professional and fun event that showcases the Highline community at its best. What’s evolved has been an exercise in positive cooperation among many entities: government, businesses, non-profits, schools and neighbors.

Here are the race details:

Start Line: Normandy Park Community Club (beach parking lot)

Race Start Time: Sunday, March 13 at Noon

Finish Line: Burien Masonic Lodge (SW 152nd and 10th Ave SW in Olde Burien)

Race Day Reg/Packet Pickup: Burien Masonic Lodge (9:30-11:30 a.m.)

Pre-Packet Pickup: Burien Masonic Lodge (Sat 1-4 p.m.)

Free Shuttle: Burien Masonic Lodge to 5K Start Line (Sun 10-11:30 a.m.)

WHY SPONSOR COVE TO CLOVER?

The Cove to Clover has invested ALL proceeds back into our local community since it was established in 2009. The Y.E.T.I. youth outdoor program was created by and been funded almost exclusively by the race. The mission of Y.E.T.I. is “To develop character, stewardship and grit in all youth”. To date, over 1000 local youth have been taught to rock climb, raft, kayak, hike, camp, use an ice ax, dig a snow cave, etc. As a result, their smart phones have lost a little luster.

Beyond Y.E.T.I., local schools, food banks and other worthy local non-profits have also received significant donations over the years.

So beyond the good exposure you can get by having your logo on 2000 well designed and well worn t-shirts circulating in our community year round, please consider sponsoring the race because it’s serving an important need in our community and society at large.
