Over the past month, 11 of Girl Scout Troop #42263’s girls spent their free time selling cookies and collecting $2,884 in donations throughout Seattle to buy 721 boxes of cookies to donate to the White Center Food Bank’s pantry on Friday, March 25.

The cookies filled a large cart and weighed over a quarter of a ton.

The directors of the food bank, Rick and Audrey, are used to this troop bringing cookie donations after the yearly sale, but were delighted by the ‘mountain of cookies’ brought this year. Last year the troop collected enough donations to buy 499 boxes of cookies; this year they increased their donation by 44%! When asked, the girls said next year they have a goal of donating 1000 boxes.

Thank you to everyone who said, “Keep the change” or “Here is a donation for the food bank.” You supported local Girl Scouts who gave back to our community!

We asked Burien Bark to help us get our initial order of 5,000 boxes of cookies.

Our ‘cookie cupboard’ was only full a few days before we needed more.

We asked everyone we could, including Bigfoot, to buy a box or give a donation.

Rain or shine, we stood at stores wishing people a great day and talking about the food bank.

Finally, we packed our ‘cookie cruiser’ with donations and headed to the food bank.

We needed help to weigh the ‘Mountain of Cookies.’

Rick and Audrey of the food bank were very excited to see us once again.
