Resident Elston Hill shares this story and photo of why he loves living in Burien:

The other night I knew why I loved Burien. We arrived at Sea-Tac at 10:30 p.m. and it was a zoo. Crazy with so many people. Exactly 30 minutes after our plane pulled up to the gate, we had our three checked bags and had arrived at home. Coming through Burien was surreal after the airport. The streets were dark and empty. We had arrived in our little country town. Yesterday morning we were made aware again of the small town feel of Burien as we made our walk through the neighborhood and saw crab pots stacked in the driveway of a house (click image to see larger version):

  1. The ever increasing and much appreciated Police crackdown on the criminal and street urchin element, so our City can be vibrant, prosperous and safe. And, well kept yards.

  2. Our awesome, local animal shelter and agency, C.A.R.E.S., and their massive community presence and support. Especially, ALL the volunteers! Give them a larger space, please. They are much too crowded………..

      1. Hopefully your neighborhood is zoned for that type of home based business, if it is one or your selling from there? Because Burien will make sure and ruin everything holding back small business’s that move families and the economy forward. Sshhh!

    1. I love how the police and other people give tips on preventing crime in the area but the only people that don’t listen. End up buying new car stereo’s every couple months or buy home alarms system’s from door to door sales men or set up Craig list sales or other online sales at there home instead of a public location. These same people that are quick to blame the police department or the city council for the issues.
