From WABI Burien:

In keeping with our summertime tradition, come join the 4th Annual Burien Public Art Walk-n-Talk on Sunday, August 7, as we begin the SIXTH year (!) of our monthly walks. A few years ago, the City of Burien’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, along with Burien’s Arts Commission, created a walking map and signage for the 23 public art pieces around town. All walkers will receive a copy of this map, which we’ll follow to discover 20 of those art pieces.

As a special addition to the walk this year, we’ll take a stroll down “Art Alley” between SW 152nd and 153rd to see the current, very vibrant graffiti art there. We’re also being treated to olive oil taste-testing at Burien’s Oilerie, newly-opened by Marty and Trish Hughes. Then we’ll cross the street for tea-tasting at Phoenix Tea’s new location.

WHEN: Sunday, August 7, 2016 (Rain or shine.); meet-up at 2:00. Walking starts at 2:15.

WHO: Walkers of every level and ability (dogs are welcome, too.)

WHERE: Meet at the Community Center Annex (Skate) Park, at the northwest corner of SW 146th and 4th Ave. SW.
Walking Route: We will start at the Community Center Annex, walking from number 1 – 5, then skip to number 8 at the Burien Courthouse. We will then pick back up with numbers 6 and 7, and then on to 9 – 20. As we come back around through town, we’ll walk through “Art Alley” between SW 152nd and 153rd Streets, from 6th Ave. to 4th Ave. Then we’ll head to the Oilerie and Phoenix Tea to sample their products.
Distance: About 1.75 miles, round trip, mostly flat with sidewalks.

Marty and Trish started the Oilerie here in Burien after watching the Oilerie founder, Curt Campbell appear on Shark Tank. While he did not get a deal, Trish and Marty were intrigued by his service model of providing an excellent customer experience in the store. Both of us are big Seattle Seahawk fans, and we were reminded of quarterback Russell Wilson’s words, “Why not us, why not now?”. Please come enjoy sampling all of our olive oils and balsamics, as well as our nut and seed oils. We also have a variety of sauces, bruschettas, stuffed olives and dips available for sampling.
