ELECTION RETURNS: Normandy Park Police, Fire District leading in 1st round

King County Elections released the first round of returns for Tuesday’s (Aug. 2) Primary Election, and here are the early results:

City of Normandy Park Proposition No. 1:

  • Yes: 947 67.16%
  • No: 463 32.84%

King County Fire Protection District No. 2 Proposition 1:

  • Yes: 3324 56.12%
  • No: 2599 43.88%

In primary races, please note that the two candidates who receive the most votes in this election qualify for the General Election, regardless of party affiliation:

US Senator:

  • Chris Vance Rep 46328 20.25%
  • Patty Murray Dem 152798 66.77%

Governor:

  • Jay Inslee Dem 143525 62.69%
  • Bill Bryant Rep 63649 27.80%

NOTE: Perennial Burien candidate Goodspaceguy has received 2,088 so far, or 0.91% of the vote for Governor.

Lieutenant Governor:

  • Cyrus Habib Dem 76152 34.64%
  • Marty McClendon Rep 25912 11.79%
  • Steve Hobbs Dem 34744 15.81%
  • Karen Fraser Dem 34673 15.77%

Secretary of State:

  • Tina Podlodowski Dem 130888 58.70%
  • Kim Wyman Rep 81107 36.37%

Commissioner of Public Lands:

  • Hilary Franz Dem 70066 32.55%
  • Mary Verner Dem 22188 10.31%
  • Steven M. Nielson Lib 7733 3.59%
  • Dave Upthegrove Dem 46958 21.81%
  • Karen Porterfield Dem 9424 4.38%
  • Steve McLaughlin Rep 52823 24.54%
  • John Stillings Dem 5869 2.73%
  • Write-In NP 199 0.09%

NOTE: Dave Upthegrove has received 46,958 votes so far, or 21.81%, but is not likely to make the top two. He released this statement on Facebook:

“Just got off the phone with Hilary Franz to congratulate her on advancing to the general election along with the Republican in the Lands Commissioner race. If she runs the agency with even half the passion and energy that she brought to her campaign, the state will be in great hands. Let’s all now help make sure she makes it all the way in November. I get to take a vacation and return to a job I love. Thank you to everyone who supported me!”
