Volunteers are needed for a restoration event at Miller Creek’s S 144th Street Trail in Burien on Saturday, Aug. 27.

The Miller-Walker Basin has two new Habitat Stewards – Ashley and Sheila – who will be hosting work parties along the Miller Creek trail this summer…and all are invited.

Join your neighbors to restore the forest near Miller Creek, continuing the work that has been done by previous volunteers since 2007.

“Get outside and get some exercise while improving the health of the creek!”

No experience is necessary, and gloves, tools, and light refreshments are provided. Please RSVP so we can plan for tools and snacks.

  • Saturday, Aug. 27, 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Park at the trail parking lot along Des Moines Memorial Drive just south of S. 144th St. in Burien. Walk west along the Miller Creek trail, cross S 144th Way, and look for us next to the S 144th Street Miller Creek Trail on the right.

WHAT: Work with volunteer Habitat Stewards to remove invasive weeds, spread wood chip mulch, and prepare the area for planting more native plants this fall.

  • Clothing that will protect you from the sun, cold, rain, and blackberry thorns (and that you don’t mind getting dirty)
  • Filled water bottle, gloves if you have them

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This park does not have a restroom – please plan ahead.

RSVP:  Email or call Elissa Ostergaard, [email protected]206-477-4792
