A teen member of a Department of Ecology cleanup crew made a very interesting discovery while working on the SR 509 freeway in Burien Monday morning, Aug. 15.
They found a World War I-era rifle!
But don’t worry – it was removed safely by a State Trooper.
“The responding officer disassembled the rifle on the spot,” Larry Altose from Ecology told The B-Town Blog. “Our crews call Washington State Patrol whenever a weapon is found. We never handle them.”
No word yet on where this historic artifact came from, nor where it may end up.

  1. There was a burglary on 17th last week, a safe was broken into & guns, some collectible. were taken. The thieves stole almost everything else in the house, leaving the occupants and neighbors traumatized and the area more at risk. The crooks are on video using stolen credit cards around the area, They will be on TV tonight on Crimestoppers on Channel 12 at 9,10 11. Please watch and see if you can ID these thieves and make our community a safer place.
