The Mark Restaurant & Bar, located at 918 SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien, was recently sold to the Ramos family, owners of the Azteca Restaurant chain headquartered in Burien.

The restaurant will be re-named “Classic Eats” as of Dec. 1.

One tradition that will most definitely be missed is The Mark’s annual free (or pay-what-you-can) Thanksgiving dinner.

Outgoing co-owner Debra George announced the sale on Facebook:

CHANGES AT MARK RESTAURANT & BAR

As most of you know already, Mark Restaurant and Bar has been sold! It was a great opportunity that I could not turn down. The new owners are local family restaurateurs (Ramos family) which will continue to grow the restaurant and be a vital part of the community. Over the last 45 days they have been slowly changing the menu, the decor and building a relationship with the customers and the staff. We are making this change without closing it down in consideration for our staff and customers.

Starting December 1st, Mark Restaurant will be no longer and it will now be called “Classic Eats”. It has truly been my pleasure to have been part of this restaurant for 10 years and I am looking forward to Classic Eats to be around for many more years! I plan on slowing down a little and focusing on my work with being the Event Manager for Discover Burien for community events and as the Director of C.A.R.E.S. Animal Care, Control and Shelter a true passion of mine.

Important information you should know:

  1. Classic Eats will not be continuing with the “Rewards Program”. If you have a reward card with money on it you need to use it before the end of November.
  2. ALL Mark Restaurant coupons must be used before the end of November.
  3. If you have a gift card, they WILL honor them and transfer them into a “Classic Eats” gift card.
  4. I will not be doing my Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner this year, sorry.

Please come see us over the next few weeks as we wind down and change to Classic Eats. Keep an eye on your e-mail and facebook as I will announce a “Changing of the Guard” party that I want everyone to come to!!

Thank you to all the customers who help make MARK Restaurant & Bar the success it became!

Sincerely,
Debra George

Will there be Dine out for Life?

Good news! The Ramos family are fine people!

  3. Question Authority says:

Hopefully their mantra of being the “Denny’s of Mexican food” doesn’t find it’s self over taking this establishment. The “Mark” brand was reliable, consistent and worthy of keeping that expectation for past and future customers.

Stop by and give it a try Mr.Authority. The new menu items are great.

    • Question Authority says:

Your sure funny, BTW I eat there quite often and did so just last Saturday. My concerns are based on the desire to continue to enjoy my visits there. Eating at Azteca is not enjoyable as it has become mass produced and generic “Americanized” gut bombs.

      • Ken says:

Unfortunately, it’s true. I ate at the original Azteca in 1980, the dinky little chapel right next to the bowling alley. It was wonderful! But now, two buildings later, the food is unappealing. I do hold out hope for “Classic Eats” however. Bring it on!

@Tom Taafle…. LOL!!!! That’s a good one and I needed the laugh this morning!
