Several Readers have inquired with us about hearing a huge explosion in Burien Saturday night (Nov. 12) around 10:30 p.m., with many reporting the sound originating near SW 128th and 4th Ave SW.

We checked with the King County Sheriff’s Office, who told us they did indeed receive a few calls about a loud explosion.

“It was heard in the area of the 400 block of SW 128th,” Sgt. Cindi West told The B-Town Blog. “We investigated but did not find a cause. I was told there was a fence with some damage and that the Fire Investigator was handling.”

Initial concern was that it might’ve been a gas explosion, but Burien/Normandy Park Fire Chief Mike Marrs thinks it was something else.

“Reports from our crew was it most likely was a fireworks related call,” Marrs said. “There was some damage to a fence in the area. They confirmed it was not gas related.”
