On Sunday morning (Jan. 1, 2017) at around 10 a.m., a City of Burien snow plow truck slid into a ditch near the intersection of SW 130th Street and 8th Ave SW (map below). Between 3-6 inches of snow fell overnight (around 1-2 near sea level), and many roads resembled wintry picture postcards. As you can see, this truck was clearly prepared to not only help clear the roads, but stay on them – and it even had chains on. “Even a large truck full of sand with chains can slide in this stuff,” said Ken Cryst, who sent us these photos. Ken added:

“Burien Towing sent out their biggest tow truck and was able to pull the snow plow out of the ditch. The driver of the city truck said that he stopped at the top of the hill and just started sliding backward and there was nothing he could do but go for a ride.”
As far as we know, there were no injuries. Click images to see larger versions: ]]>

  1. Glad the driver was ok, and that there wasn’t any property damage. Just something to tell the grandkids later ! 🙂
