Burien’s 12th annual ‘Empty Bowls’ fundraiser was held last Friday (Jan. 27), with 1,164 people attending and $21,525 raised – a record-setting benefit – for the White Center & Highline Area Food Banks!
Lat year this event brought in 1,125 visitors, and raised over $19,000.
Both a lunch and dinner were served at the fundraiser held at the Burien Community Center.
The Soup Winners were:
- 1st Place: Dan Thai
- 2nd Place: The Point Liquor and Eats
- 3rd Place: Archies Mexican Restaurant
Every year, Moshier potters team up with Discover Burien and Burien Parks and Recreation to host Empty Bowls. Empty Bowls events can be found around the country raising money to combat hunger in our communities. Potters donate original, handmade bowls to be filled with soup at this fun event.
Guests get the opportunity to pick out a beautiful handmade bowl, as well as enjoy a simple but wonderful meal of soup, bread, drink and dessert donated by area businesses.
Proceeds go to the Highline Area and White Center Food Banks.
This year there was also a raffle/auction of beautiful handmade serving bowls and platters, and wine, with a wine sampling.
