Discover Burien on Wednesday (Feb. 15) announced that its new Executive Director is Bruce Wynn, who comes to the organization from Kirkland.

Mr. Wynn comes to the organization with extensive experience as the former Executive Director for the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and the Interbay Neighborhood Association, where he successfully propelled those groups into a force for economic development while forging important partnerships in those communities.

He is very excited to be a part of Burien’s continued development.

“I’ve been impressed by how interesting and vibrant Burien has become,” he said. “The boutique shops, restaurants, community resources, City Hall, parks and a host of large and small businesses makes Burien a one-stop-serves-all-town. I want to do for Burien what I’ve done for Kirkland.”

The Discover Burien Board of Directors felt that Mr. Wynn’s experience, upbeat personality and excitement for the opportunities to further our mission, vision and programs was “a perfect fit.”

Currently at the helm, Acting Executive Director Denise Ferguson added:

“The staff at Discover Burien are very eager to work with Bruce in the coming months. It has been my pleasure to fill in as the interim ED and I look forward to continuing with the organization as part of the team.”

Mr. Wynn will be starting in early March and one of the first opportunities to meet him will be at the 13th Annual Fundraising Auction and Dinner held on March 10 at 6 p.m. For tickets or more information contact the office at 206-433-2882.

Welcome. Now come and discover Burien with me on my morning walks. Some “discoveries” are not pleasant. I have made the same offer to others, city council, but they apparently don’t like reality to see what is actually going on their city.

Start your day, every morning, at the library. It ain’t pretty and really doesn’t encourage one to discover Burien.

BTW – I grew up here and have lived in the area since 1956. Life long resident, with a short college break.

What I see is not pretty. What are your plans to work with the City of Burien to bring a change?

I wish you the very best of luck.

    Regards,
    Scott
