Noise testing scheduled at Highline High & Des Moines Elementary Tues., Feb. 21

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Port of Seattle will be conducting noise testing at Highline High School and Des Moines Elementary as part of their continued partnership with Highline Public Schools on airplane noise mitigation.

Loudspeakers will be set up outside the schools, and noise levels will be measured outside and inside the buildings.

Testing at Highline High School will be conducted from 1 – 5 p.m.

Testing at Des Moines Elementary will be conducted from 8 a.m. – Noon.

Students will be out of school on mid-winter break on Tuesday.

    It’s a great step to take but I can help but suspect that the port will work with the FAA and no flights will be directed as normal over these areas so the tests will not be accurate.

      Actually, the test doesn’t test actual airplane noise. All the sound is simulated by speakers in front of the schools. And it’s done by an objective third party!

    Testing for sound… what about emissions? Hopefully that will be next on the list. If you are hearing it, you are breathing it.
