On Wednesday (April 5), an alert shopper noticed a man loitering outside of a retail store in the 15700 block of 1st Ave South (map below), according to the Burien Police Department, which adds:

The man was wearing gloves and had a hoodie pulled tightly over his face.

This didn’t look right to the shopper so she called 911.

Officers arrived within minutes to investigate and the man had entered the store and was standing at the checkout counter. When the man saw the first patrol car, he immediately ran from the store.

Making him even more suspicious, the man had nylon stockings pulled over his head!

Officers gave chase and during the foot pursuit, the man threw a handgun onto the ground. He was quickly apprehended thanks to the alert shopper and our awesome officers! The investigation revealed he was planning on robbing the business and may be responsible for similar crimes.

  1. This is what real Community Policing is all about – everyone working together to keep our community safer. Kudos to all involved!

  2. Scumbag Alert –
Have the rest of you noticed how the bmx bike riding, backpack wearing street urchins are starting to wear bandannas over their faces? You can’t be arrested for your multiple warrants when the police can’t ID you as you car prowl to feed your drug habit. Why else wear one, can’t be our dry dusty environment.

    1. So QofA were did this story state this person was homeless.
We’re in the story did say they had a bike.

There’s people that ride motorcycles that ware bandana’s for cold weather. I would take a guess and say that might be the reason for this activity with the bmx community.

Here in burien we have a regular crime rate so to call out the homeless community with out any creditable information is just uncalled for.
