Around 1:43 a.m. Sunday morning (May 7), police responded to a report of a shooting at the Taradise Cafe – located at 9808 16th Ave SW in White Center (map below) – to find a man dead in the street from a gunshot wound to his head.

The Taradise is located in the old Marv’s Broiler building.

Police say that details are sketchy, but told us that this tragedy started out as a fight between some women in the women’s bathroom. The altercation moved to the main front area of the bar, and then outside into the street.

A man at the bar who went outside to talk to one of the women involved in the altercation was shot.

Witness said the suspect calmly shot the victim in the head as he stood out on the street.

“We don’t know if the suspect had been at the bar or not,” Sgt. Cindi West said.

“There is very little suspect info,” West added, “wearing a hoodie but no other details.”

  1. I go to Taradise regularly. If the police truly want to find the killer, they can speak to just about any person in the bar and would have enough clues to find the suspect. I found out it was a revenge killing within 5 minutes of arriving today. Ever hear of community policing? Give it a try.

    1. We can assume then that you have called KCSO and passed along this information? You might not believe this, but some people don’t tell the cops everything they know about a crime!

      1. No.

I posted here with the hope that a good cop would spend a few minutes to look into the victims past. The answer to who shot him is there. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fight that occurred.

The last time I directly contacted police about a crime I knew about, I was treated like I was a suspect. I’m 50 years old, own a business and have children that need me. I don’t need that.

        1. I can understand how you may be worry about your safety. But you can stay anonymous if you call crime stoppers. You might want to track down a payphone or burner phone to stay completely anonymous. But then again they can track i.p addresses even from a proxy server so if you’re on your own device. They can track you down if they find your information worth it and can get a warrant. Then they could charge you with obstruction of justice.

From your comments your assuming all officers are the same and will treat you wrong. You might not be coming at this with the right attitude. I can also understand in the community of people related to this crime how that can happen.

I copied this from the white center blog. The police have a description of the car and a partial description of the suspect.

Anyone with information or who may have taken cell phone video before, during or after the shooting is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.
Additionally anyone who may have been driving in the area or picked someone up from the area is asked to call.
You may also be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 and remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS(8477).

  2. I’m sure the cops tried getting a witness. The fact that nobody is talking and somebody can kill someone in front of a bar on a saturday night, in front of several people, says a lot about Taradise and its customers.

  3. I was going to make snide response, but decided to explain something that you and many others don’t understand. You can sit there and see that a murder happened and no one is saying a word and figure that every person involved is a bad person. The truth is that if we speak up about something, we could be killed too. It’s very, very easy to criticize someone when you don’t have to walk in their shoes.

As I said before, my livelihood is my business. I have children that depend on my income. I’m not going to risk talking to police, being outed, and risk being killed because you want to see justice. The police simply need to do their job and they will quickly find the killer. It’s day 2 and not one cop has even showed up to speak to people. What does it take?

    1. What makes you think the cops don’t already know who did it? Because they haven’t talked to the people who refused to give any information to begin with?

  4. When was it the KCSO Community Service office was closed? I don’t remember. I do remember when it was first opened by Sgt. Mac Allen. Suddenly it was safe to walk in White Center, even after dark. Oh well, those days are gone.

  5. There is a violent criminal element that frequents Taradise that does not exist at Mac’s nor at The Locker Room. And both Mac’s and The Locker Room ain’t exactly posh hipster bars…sorry. Taradise encouraged that element of customer or looked the other way. It was only a matter of time somebody was killed.
