Elston Hill was out with his camera and he caught these great photos of the Seattle Yacht Club’s Tri-Island Vashon Island Regatta #2 (starting at Shilshole, then around Vashon/Maury Island then back), held on Saturday, May 13 (click images to see larger versions/slideshow): Also, Elston was out and about on Friday, when he shot these pics:

“Normally, one does not see ferries travel by Burien…but this last week has been different. Washington State Ferries took delivery of the Chimacum on April 7, and is now putting it through sea trials and crew familiarization. The Chimacum will replace an older ferry on the Seattle/Bremerton Route. On a recent morning, the Chimacum sailed south with Vashon Island in the background at 8:30 a.m.”
The Chimacum spent the morning traveling around the harbor in Tacoma before returning past Three Tree Point in the afternoon at 1:35 p.m. (with the vehicle carrier Morning Crystal in the background):
One fun thing about Burien is the variety of marine traffic that is visible from Seahurst Park and other beaches:

Lots of home improvements in Burien. And with our narrow streets, it was quite a challenge for this truck driver to remove a big trash bin this morning. Indeed, when we complimented him on his success, he told us with a worried face that at one point it felt like the truck was going to tip over:
The sign near Three Tree Point says the construction period will end December 28, 2016. Progress is slow in Burien:
