B-TOWN BIZ: It’s official – Bakery Nouveau will open in Burien in September

The co-owners of Bakery Nouveau – chef William Leaman and CEO Heather Leaman – announced Tuesday (Aug. 15) that their new flagship location will open in Burien this September at 426 SW 153rd Street.

Their newest bakery will be open daily, selling the pastries, breads, and cakes Bakery Nouveau has come to be known for—plus some exciting new items.

The new shop will be their largest to date. At nearly 7,500 square feet, it gives the Leamans ample space to make their beloved pastries and breads as well as expand their chocolate confectionery production. In the past they have only been able to make chocolates in cooler months, but now with the new, state-of-the-art space, they will be able to produce chocolates year-round.

When guests enter the new shop, they can catch a glimpse of the production process, viewing William and his team in action. Beyond the cases to the left, guests will be able to see the bakers laminating dough and shaping bread, and to the right, there will be a peek into the magic of the chocolate-making room. The shop will have seating for approximately 20 inside, and an 80 square-foot deck will provide additional seating outside. The existing wood ceiling and dark maple floors will be complemented by sage green wainscot and cream-colored walls, and the bounty of windows bathe the cafe in light, creating a warm and inviting space.

The cases will be full of Bakery Nouveau’s authentic French classics like croissants, macarons, tarts, and cakes, plus new items like house-made gelato. They will offer a bevy of savory options as well, including house-made pizza, quiche, and sandwiches served on Bakery Nouveau’s handcrafted artisan bread.

Outside, don’t miss the gorgeous and appropriately Art Nouveau-inspired mural painted by David Heck and designed by Heather Leaman and Kiran Lovejoy. There will also be 19 parking spaces adjacent to the bakery for guests. The bakery will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

    Looking forward to a great Bakery in Burien, Wa. I grow up in the Midwest where my family bought are great baked goods at a German Bakery, family owned. I use to live downtown Seattle, and there were some great bakeries and places to get great treats to have with a cup of coffee or tea. But since I’ve lived here in Burien, some 10 year’s there has not been one. Except the Danish Bakery in old Burien that closed some years back. So for Burien to get a great bakery it is a Good Thing! God must be smiling down at us.
