Marine debris is a serious problem, but you can help – Burien’s Environmental Science Center needs Volunteers to help clean up Seahurst Park Beach on  Saturday, Sept. 16.

This open event will run from 10 a.m. – Noon.

“Join in the largest world-wide volunteer effort to protect the ocean. All ages can take part in the cleanup at Seahurst Park, add found items to our Salmon Trash Sculpture or enjoy fun Earth-friendly activities in the Environmental Science Center.”

The City of Burien is sponsoring the event and ESC is partnering with Puget Soundkeeper and the Ocean Conservancy to pitch-in.

Meet at ESC at the north end of Seahurst Park, where cleanup supplies will be provided. The Ocean Conservancy is fighting for trash free seas and smartphone users can download their Clean Swell app to document found items for local and worldwide counts. Puget Soundkeeper will tally items found throughout the Puget Sound basin.

ESC is located at 2220 SW Seahurst Park Road:
