On Tuesday afternoon just after 3 p.m., a semi-truck lost control on the S. 188th Street exit of SR 509 (map below), rolled into a ditch and killed the driver passenger.

The Washington State Patrol said that the truck – a 2012 Mitsubishi Fuso – was traveling southbound on SR 509, exiting to S. 188th Street, when it lost control and rolled over into a ditch on the left side.

UPDATE 12/17: The Washington State Patrol at the time said that the 19-year old victim – Andrew D. Long Jr. – was the Driver of the truck at the time of the accident.

We learned though that that information was incorrect – Long was actually the passenger in the truck, which was driven by his Supervisor, David J. Espinoza, 22.

Long was ejected from the truck, and was tragically killed as it rolled over onto him, WSP said in a police report dated Sept. 13.

Espinoza has been charged with Vehicular Homicide, and Troopers first released details based on their interview with him.

This story was updated due to new information shared with us by Long’s fiancé, Veronica Coronado, who said:

“Also would appreciate the change, as an explanation I can give to my daughter (who was just born 6 days ago) for when she gets older & the time comes I can tell her about her father.”

Remnants of a memorial for Long are still visible on the shoulder of the north side of the offramp.

Here’s a sketch and description that was included in the updated Sept. police report:

This off ramp has one lane.

Vehicle 1 left the roadway to the left, tripped on the curb and rolled.

An occupant was ejected from the vehicle as Vehicle 1 rolled over the occupant.

Vehicle 1 came to rest on the roof.

The roadway was closed for investigation for quite some time, causing a huge backup on 509 as well as side streets.

There was a small memorial in place today as I drove by. Does anyone know if there has been any update or name released so that we can support the family? Any fund me pages that the community might want to have passed on?

Damn Baby. Still can’t believe you were the one to GO in this horrific tragedy. It really is just sad & heart breaking. We had so many goals & dreams set aside for us, for you, for baby Lilliana. You didnt even get to meet her. Or her you. & it crushes me inside everyday. I had just spoke with you, 20 minutes before you crashed & said Goodbye. I wish I couldve stayed on the phone the whole time, & made sure you were OK. SAFE! But unfortunately time controls everything. & I cant <|3. But GOD CAN. I love you SOOO MUCH: my HANDSOME, BEAUTIFUL, OUT OF THIS WORLD FIANCE & HS SWEET HEART. You are OUR everything. Rest In Paradise honey. Well see you up there soon enough :") :"(
