The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program – also called DACA – was instituted in 2012.
Under the program, those who immigrated to the United States illegally as children could apply to work legally in the country. Hundreds of thousands did so nationally over the next few years, many of them in the South King County area. National polling shows that the program was broadly popular.
On Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Trump administration would phase out DACA.
We’d like to know what our Readers think about this – with the percentage of foreign-born Burien residents around 20%, should the program be preserved and continued in communities of South King County?

  1. For all those who voted no, you should try getting plunked down in a foreign country where you don’t understand a word, don’t know your way around and have no friends or relatives and see how you feel. I can’t understand that way of thinking. I just hope that our legislators have more kindness in their hearts than you do.
As for those who are sticklers for upholding the law, remember the duly convicted former Sheriff Arpaio and his pardon, so much for the rule of law.

    1. Of course they should remain here where they have grown up. These are all proud Americans who contribute in untold positive ways to our community, and to our country. They make America great. Lastly, let’s not forget, they are human beings who deserve the same compassion, support, and opportunity that we give ourselves.
