An 87-year old man was rescued from a fire early Wednesday morning (Sept. 6), which destroyed a 3-car garage in Burien before spreading to a nearby home. Units from North Highline, Tukwila, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Port of Seattle and King County Medic-1 responded to the blaze, which happened in the 13900 block of 6th Ave SW (map below) just before 3 a.m. “My dad got (the) old guy next door neighbor just in time, there was a lot of smoke but thank God that no one got hurt,” eyewitness Tatyana Kozodoy said. “My mom woke up first and saw fire from the business next door (a plant business). The guy who lives there is 87-years old.” The man’s home suffered extensive damage to its first and second floors. One firefighter suffered an ankle injury while fighting the fire, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Nobody else was injured. “The fire was investigated and the cause will be listed as undetermined,” Fire Chief Mike Marrs told The B-Town Blog. ]]>
