Courtesy Elston Hill comes these great photos showing what may be the last of our smoky sunsets, as well as some other views from around Burien. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency seems to agree:

“For Sept 8-12: MODERATE air quality early on Friday with some lingering smoke, but thankfully should clear out to GOOD by Saturday. May see a return of smoke and MODERATE briefly on Monday and Tuesday, but GOOD expected to return after.”

Using Google, I found this is a very new tugboat built just this year. Dr. Kaplan, a Seattle-based cancer specialist, started the Kaplan Cancer Research Fund with grant money received for experimental drug trials. Harley Marine’s annual golf tournament supports his fund. “Dr. Kaplan is our hero, inspiration and devoted solider to finding a cure and improving patient care in the fight against cancer,” Harley Marine Services wrote in a statement about the new tug. And finally, a bit of artwork in downtown Burien on the new condos: ]]>
