On Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, the City of Burien will observe National Falls Prevention Awareness Day with a FREE workshop.

“Join us to learn how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. Caregivers, adults, and seniors are welcome to participate!”

Participants will come away from this day with a better appreciation of the issue and that everyone has a role to play in preventing falls, plus:

  • What evidence-based programs are available to reduce your risk of falling, including our NEW EnhanceWellness Program (link: http://www.burienwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/7171)
  • How to set-up your home to reduce your risk of falling
  • Learn what your risk of falling is through on-site wellness checks
  • Review your medications to avoid drowsiness and dizziness
  • Learn techniques to improve your balance from Tai Chi and exercise demonstrations

The City of Burien is partnering with King County Emergency Medical Services and the Washington Department of Health.

Lunch is provided and pre-registration is required – register by calling 206.988.3700 or online here:
