Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that just before 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, a man in his 30s riding a skateboard was killed after he rode directly into the path of a car.

Police say he was riding a skateboard eastbound on SW 138th Street down a hill, and that after he crossed 1st Ave South he rode directly in the path of a northbound car.

The driver swerved to avoid him but struck the skateboarder, who died at the scene.

Here’s video of the scene as shot by Morgan Rosalez:

Police add that there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs on the part of the driver.

This is really sad. That area is very dark and a bit of a no-mans land inform a pedestrian point of view.

A sad reminder for ALL – skateboarders and drivers. SLOW down and pay attention. As it is darker in the mornings and evenings, we all need to pay close attention to boarders, walkers, and fellow drivers.

I feel sorry this person and their family.

I use to ride a skateboard when I was younger all around burien some roads if not most your better off walking. Especially roads with fast traffic some are not even that safe to walk on with how some people drive.

In the dark it’s 100 times worse.
