Meet Cookie and Mookie

Meet Cookie.

This is Cookie, and she is every bit as sweet as her name implies. When I first approached Cookie, she greeted me with a quick sniff and lick. This pit-mix pup has a wonderful temperament; she is very well-mannered, has a gorgeous smile, and always seems to have her tail a-waggin’. We went for a short, mellow walk around the neighborhood, during which Cookie was very receptive to directions. From time to time she would become intently focused on a particularly interesting patch of grass or shrub, but hey – a girl’s got to sniff what a girl’s got to sniff!

Of all the dogs up for adoption at Burien C.A.R.E.S., Cookie has been there the longest. She was brought in mid-September, so is pushing nearly two months at the shelter, and this happy girl is ready to go home!

Cookie is a playful pup (it is estimated she is around 2 years old), and she is very amicable; typically she does well with other dogs (if you are looking to bring her into a home with other dogs, it is recommended to schedule an introduction so they can meet first), and she is friendly towards children. She has a lot of energy, and can get a little over-enthusiastic when she gets excited, so a home with small children might not be the best fit, but she would love to run around the yard or at the park with older kids! She hasn’t displayed any aggression towards cats, but she is VERY interested in them – perhaps a little too interested, so she would probably do best in a feline-free environment.

With a clean bill of health from the vet, there are no medical concerns to worry about with Cookie. She has been spayed, is up-to-date on all her shots, is microchipped, and has been flea-treated and dewormed. All she needs now is someone willing to give her lots of back scratches, and a lot of love.

And this is Mookie.

Meet Mookie! This handsome fella is around 2-3 years old, and is quite a lover! He showed little hesitation when coming up to meet me, and quickly acclimated to the company. Mookie is considered a sweetheart by just about everyone who has met him, and if you are looking for a lap cat, he might just be the right guy for the job! Although Mookie does like to play and can get a bit frisky, he primarily likes to spend his time enjoying the finer things in life (scratches behind his ears, mainly).

Mookie is a one-cat household kind of guy – there are no exceptions to this rule, so if you plan to come home even smelling like other cats, Mookie may not be the right fit for you. As long as he is your one and only feline friend, however, he will be as sweet and loving as anyone could hope for. And, just to make cuddling with this little guy even more rewarding, his fur is incredibly soft (think baby bunny rabbits).

Because Mookie can switch from snuggly to playful so quickly, he would probably do better in a home without small children; but, if you have a quiet home where this fellow can settle down, he would make a wonderful companion, and will surely win your heart.

Mookie has been cleared by the vet as having no health problems, including testing negative for feline AIDS/leukemia, and he has been fixed and flea-treated/dewormed. This little guy has been at the shelter since June, and is ready to go – he’s just waiting for that special someone to take him home!
