The lights were out, doors were locked and its big sign had been painted over at pet grooming facility Pretty Paws when this photo was taken last weekend.

Burien City Attorney Lisa Marshall told the City Council Monday night (Nov. 6) that the business license of Pretty Paws has been suspended, and a full-scale major crimes investigation is underway by the King County Sheriff’s office.

This follows the death of a dog at the pet grooming facility, as earlier reported by The B-Town Blog.

CARES Animal Control also issued a cruelty citation to Pretty Paws for the incident.

Resident Kim Malmquist had told the Blog that her four and a half month old dog Yoshi was taken to Pretty Paws for grooming, and a short time later they said the dog had problems breathing. The animal was taken to another vet for more examination and later died.

Pretty Paws has been closed since the Oct. 6 death of the animal.
