ELECTION RESULTS 3: Progressives progressing towards a comeback

King County Elections released the third round of results for Tuesday’s election, and these new tallies show some serious change – challenger Jimmy Matta is now leading incumbent Debi Wagner by 33 votes. Previously Wagner was ahead by 141 votes.

Trends are indicating progress overall for the rest of the progressive slate as well – and if they continue, the City will likely end up with its first Latino councilmember (or members):

  • Pedro Olguin is now trailing Joel Manning by just 131 votes; previously he was behind by 300.
  • Nancy Tosta increased her lead over Darla Green to 1,166; Green conceded on Facebook.
  • Krystal Marx increased her lead over Patty Janssen to 281 – up from just 5.

City Of Burien Council Position No. 1:

  • Pedro E. Olguin: 4,125 49.22%
  • Joel Manning: 4,256 50.78%

Total Votes (not including write-ins) 8,381

City Of Burien Council Position No. 3:

  • Debi Wagner*: 4,201 49.8%
  • Jimmy Matta: 4,234 50.2%

Total Votes (not including write-ins) 8,435

City Of Burien Council Position No. 5:

  • Darla Green: 3,624 43.07%
  • Nancy Tosta*: 4,790 56.93%

Total Votes (not including write-ins) 8,414

City Of Burien Council Position No. 7:

  • Krystal Marx: 4,281 51.39%
  • Patty Janssen: 4,050 48.61%

Total Votes (not including write-ins) 8,331

* indicates incumbent
