The Burien City Council honors community members who make outstanding contributions to our community by presenting them with its annual ‘Citizen of the Year’ Award, and nominations are now being accepted. Recipients are nominated by Burien residents, and the deadline is Feb. 9, 2018. Do you know someone who has improved the quality of life in Burien? Do you know of a program or organization that has helped others in the community? Help us recognize that person or organization for their contribution to the Burien. Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Selection The City Council will review the nominations and select the winner at the first Council meeting in March. Citizen of the Year recipient(s) will be acknowledged at the first meeting in April. Recognition Citizen(s) of the Year receive a framed copy of the Council proclamation in addition to an invitation to be a grand marshal of Burien’s 4th of July Independence Day parade.
