The new ‘potential purchasers’ of Des Moines’ historic Landmark on the Sound will be holding an Open House this coming Saturday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This historic property was built in 1926, originally as a retirement home for Freemasons on a ridge with a commanding view of Puget Sound in the then-town of Zenith, which is now part of Des Moines. Constructed of slate and copper, Terra Cotta and Terrazzo, marble and stained glass, this majestic “castle on the hill” has played host to the Des Moines Poverty Bay Wine Festival and numerous other events in the past, even serving as an event center in its last incarnation. Its elegant, 5-story, 118,000 square foot main structure, along with 1960s addition of 3 wings (65,000 SF) sit on 27 acres of gentle sloped property w/16 acres of wooded land.
According to a recent MLS listing, the Landmark was priced at $20 million, and the sale is pending.
While the identity of these mysterious buyers/developers remains a secret for now, here’s what we know so far about this Open House:
