A single-car accident in the 100 block of SW 156th Street (map below) Friday morning (Mar. 2) sent the young male driver to a hospital. A witness who heard the accident told The B-Town Blog that the car was speeding westbound on SW 156th Street just past 1st Ave South when the driver lost control, smashed into a retaining wall near a bus stop and spun out. Wreckage was strewn all over the street, and a front wheel dislodged from the car ended up on a sidewalk across the road. Evidence of the force of the crash impact was visible on the broken wheel (photo below). Luckily, no pedestrians were injured. Another person who was nearby at the time of the crash said that the driver had a non-bleeding head injury, and that he lost consciousness at one point. Apparently there were three young men in the car. Burien Police closed the street to investigate the scene, and bus traffic was rerouted for a while. As we gather more information about this accident, we’ll update this post (refresh page to see the latest). Below are photos taken by Scott Schaefer on the scene at around 11 a.m.: And more photos courtesy Real Estate Photographer Cully Ewing, who was nearby taking photos of homes:
