UPDATE: Victim of Sunday shooting in Burien has died

UPDATE: The victim of a shooting in Burien that happened on Sunday, March 18 has died, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that on Sunday morning just after 1 a.m., a motorist was driving on 1st Ave South near SW 136th Street when he heard a gunshot and saw a male lying on the shoulder of the road. The suspect – described only as a male in dark clothing – was seen walking/running away from the scene.

KCSO/Burien Police Deputies arrived on-scene quickly and found a male lying unresponsive on the side of 1st Ave South. Deputies provided CPR to the victim while they waited for medics to arrive. Once Medics arrived they continued life saving measures and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

An extensive K9 track was conducted for the suspect, but he was not located.

On Tuesday (March 20), Detectives learned that the victim had died from the gunshot wound he had suffered Sunday night. He is a 56-year old male from the Seattle area.

This is an open and ongoing investigation by King County Major Crime’s unit, and is now being treated as a homicide case.

“More updates are to follow when we have additional information,” Sgt. Ryan Abbott said.
