Congratulations to Lancer alum, Cole Madison ‘13, who got picked by the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Draft! https://t.co/MXoGt83Q1s

Cole Madison, a 6’5″, 308lb Burien native and Kennedy High School Lancer football standout, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers as the 138th overall pick in Saturday’s fifth round. Known as ‘Goldilocks’ at Kennedy (because of his long hair…but we wouldn’t dare call a Packer by that nickname now!), Madison played right tackle and tight end for the Lancers before moving on to become a key component in pass protection for Washington State University, where he earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors as a senior in 2017 after starting all 13 games. The 2013 Kennedy grad also got honorable mention as an All-Pac-12 player in 2016. And now B-Town’s very own Lancer is a Green Bay Packer! “Can’t explain it. My whole body went numb. The greatest experience of my life,” Madison said after being selected. We hope to see Cole play when the Packers take on the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football Nov. 15 at Centurylink Field (5:20 p.m. kickoff, on Fox). Congrats Cole! Mike Leach has taken his spread offense to Pullman, and Madison has excelled in the pass protection role; the team threw 664 passes on the year. He showed quick feet and good downfield mobility for his size while starting all 13 games at right tackle in 2017, earning second-team All-Pac-12 honors. He was an honorable mention all-conference pick as a 13-game starter at right tackle as a junior. That was a repeat of the honors he received while starting all 13 games at the right tackle spot the previous year. The Washington native and top 50 guard recruit nationally actually started the first eight games of his redshirt freshman year at the right tackle spot, as well. He did not play in the final four contests of the year as junior Jacob Seydel took over the spot.

He goes in the fifth round to the Green Bay Packers. https://t.co/bxVtdxuLFBProtecting Aaron Rodgers is the key, and that’s exactly what Cole Madison can do✅ • 6’ 5” 308 lbs • great feet, excels as move blocker • hard worker #GoPackGo🧀 pic.twitter.com/thc7Sgvqmm ]]>
