It’s lighter, it’s brighter and thoughtful touches abound – but if you haven’t heard yet, after a several month closure, Ivar’s Fish Bar in Burien has re-opened, ready to show off a more colorful palatte and high-tech upgrades.

High ceilings, a comfortable ambiance and charging stations at the dining booths are a few details guests will enjoy along with a roomier feel.

Instead of just gray and blue, the new decor includes warm wood touches, subtle branding and iconic vintage style signage to introduce more color interest. Along with the time-honored historic photos of Sea-Tac Airport, designers have included a replica light up Ivar’s marquee fish bar sign, harkening back to the landmark Pier 54 location.

“We remade those photos,” said  Carl Taylor, director of operations for Ivar’s Seafood Bar. “Our guests let us know they would miss them so we were sure to bring them back and put them right at the entrance where you can’t miss them.”

It turns out that some of the regulars even requested to take many of the old signs and decor, surely to place them in a place of honor in their own homes! Yes, Burien has always been good to Ivar’s, with a loyal following of customers and one of the largest turnouts for the founder’s birthday celebration each year, honoring Ivar Haglund. Ivar’s returns the favor, serving up fresh hot fish, clams and more in a quick and friendly atmosphere.
