Applications are coming in for the newest addition to Strawberry Days – the Soap Box Derby Races – and organizers are hoping residents will rev up their engines for this fun new event. In its inaugural year, the new Derby races will be held on Saturday June 16, starting at Noon. “This event is for anyone and everyone who wants to have fun time racing your fellow community members, including kids, adults, businesses, and groups. Find a crew or start a team and get building!” The first heat will be held at high Noon on Saturday on SW 152nd Street, starting just west of 6th Ave SW, with the finish line in front of Burien Press. Racers will be split into three categories based on age:

  • Kid Racers are ages 8-12
  • Teen Racers are 13-19
  • Adult Racers are 20 years and older
Kids under 8 may not participate, but will can still have fun at the craft table where they can put together small kit cars and race on a small track. Applications and a complete list if rules and regulations can be found in the Discover Burien Office located at 427 SW 152nd Street, call 206-433-2882 or visit our website at www.discoverburien.org with any further questions or requests. “See you there!” ABOUT DISCOVER BURIEN
