Burien City Manager Brian J. Wilson selected Eric Christensen to be the city’s next Finance Director, replacing Kim Krause, who left in April.

His first day was June 25.

Christensen brings over 20 years of budgeting, accounting, and financial management experience. Prior to accepting his current position, Christensen worked as financial services administrator at the King County Road Services Division. He also served as director of finance and human resources at the Bellevue Convention Center Authority, and as the budget manager for the City of Newcastle. Christensen earned a master’s degree in public administration from Seattle University.

“I’m excited to work with staff who are passionate about their work and serving the community in support of the City’s goals of a safe, healthy, dynamic community,” Christensen said. “The City of Burien is a strong organization, and I am thrilled to join this fun and hardworking team. I look forward to making a positive impact at work and in the community.”

“We reviewed many qualified candidates and Mr. Christensen was clearly the right fit for the needs of Burien,” Wilson said. “Burien is rapidly changing, and his focus on process improvement, customer service, and efficiency will help ensure that our residents get the most from every tax dollar.”
