OBITUARY: Antonia Lee Stegin “Toni”

Antonia Lee Stegin – otherwise known as “Toni” – was born July 3, 1956 to William Edward and Dolores Elaine Peterson in Seattle, Washington. She was a beautiful, bubbly, fun loving, blue-eyed blonde. In her early years she grew up in Burien, Washington, attending Gregory Heights Elementary, Sylvester Junior High and Highline High School, graduating Class of 1974. It was then, in her teenage years that she met her lifetime love and future husband, Mark Frederick Stegin.
Toni pursued a career in banking at then, Pacific National Bank, now Wells Fargo. During the course of her career she worked as a teller, operations officer and bank manager. During her children’s childhood years, she worked part-time at the bank and also managed the bookkeeping for the family’s construction business. She was involved in her children’s lives, schools and sports teams as well as volunteering in the community as PTSA officer for the elementary school, Bible school teacher and treasurer for yacht club. She enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii, Mexico and Lake Havasu with her husband and children and they also took many boating trips around Puget Sound, British Columbia and to the San Juan Islands over the years.
Toni was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and a great friend to many; she cared for all of them to the best of her ability. She had a heart of gold and was very generous with her time, talent and treasure with those around her. She enjoyed cooking and had the gift of hospitality which she shared with her family and many friends. She was a very determined individual and had a strong will and robust personality. She was the life of the party, tiny in stature and yet powerful in presence.
Toni will be deeply missed. She suffered many illnesses in her last few years and passed away peacefully at home on the morning of July 17, 2018 at the age of 62 years.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Stegin; Son: Casey Stegin (ShyAnn), grandchildren: Cason & Cody; Daughter: Carly Duke (Jordan), grandchildren: Lily & Willa; and numerous extended families. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Dolores Peterson and sister, Eena Oline Hibbs.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Toni on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Des Moines Yacht Club, 22737 Marine View Drive South, Des Moines, WA 98198.
