The Gregory Heights Elementary Parent Teacher Staff Association (PTSA) has been awarded as a National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) ‘School of Excellence’ for the 2018-20 school years.

Parents, teachers and staff at Gregory Heights Elementary have worked hard to build and maintain strong relationships in the school community.

The PTSA’s focus for the 2018-19 school year is on healthy lifestyles at home and at school. They plan to use their Mile Club to get families involved.

“For the Mile Club, students run laps on the walking path the PTSA funded a few years ago,” Jennifer Cofer, PTSA president, explained. “After a mile, students receive a token for a necklace. We plan to amp that up this year and have parents run or walk with their students.”

The PTSA is also on the final leg of a multi-year project to improve the playground. The goal is to add an ADA accessible playground toy during the 2018-19 school year. The final funding push includes a Family Color Run on September 29.

The National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools. These partnerships work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child.

Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the commitment of the Gregory Height’s PTSA and school administration. Together they work to welcome families, support student success and collaborate with the community.
