Highline Public Schools announced that two of its schools – Shorewood Elementary and CHOICE Academy – were recognized with the 2018 School of Distinction Award.

This is the second year in a row CHOICE has earned the honor and the third year in a row for Shorewood.

The award is given to the top five percent of schools in Washington State that have made sustained improvement in reading and math.

“Staff, students and families at both schools have worked diligently to improve,” said Superintendent Susan Enfield. “This award demonstrates what happens when we hold our students to high expectations. I am very proud of their hard work.”

The Center for Educational Effectiveness in partnership with the Association of Educational Service Districts, The Association of Washington School Principals, Washington Association of School Administrators, Washington State School Directors’ Association and the Washington State Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development present the award.

Additional information on methodology of selection for Schools of Distinction is available on the CEE website.
